How are you?

I know it’s been a lot juggling everything and feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders.

Between the homeschooling and frequent grocery store trips it feels like you’re on a never ending hamster wheel with so much to do and ironically way too much time to do it.

I’m here to remind you that you do not have to beat yourself up in the midst of it all.

I know it feels like with everyone at home already demanding so much, how could you possibly put any more on your plate. Is it even possible to squeeze in time for yourself?

Well it’s possible mama, you just have to change your mindset.

When we think of self care we typically think of rose petal baths and face masks, though those things are truly amazing (and can be a great part of your routine), they are not the ONLY way to get self care done.

Self care is always talked about in the physical sense, but self care is so much more.

This past week after the kids went to bed and you finally cleaned your entire living room how did it make you feel? That’s self care.

When you finally got a chance to sit and write about your feelings on this whole pandemic, didnt you feel refreshed and relieved?

Self care is not just physical.

Here are 10 ways you can perform other forms of self care right from the comfort of your home:

  • Sweeping your floor
  • Putting away old clothes
  • Organizing the “everything” drawer (come on black mama we all have one of these we haven’t looked at in months!)
  • Brain dump
  • Therapy
  • Take a nap
  • Take a shower
  • Glass of wine
  • Time outs (this ones for you not the kid mama)
  • Write a to-do list!

And since we’re on the topic of self care I want to share this small piece of advice with you; do know what else self care is not?

It is NOT selfish.

In a time when there is so much uncertainty in the world you need now more than ever to take care for you.

This is your reminder mama.

Take this time while safe at home and pour into yourself just as much as you’re taking care of everyone else.

Remember, take care of you too mama,

Aysia B.
