Join Black Moms Blog for the third annual Period Party! This virtual event is for women and young girls to learn more about their menstrual cycles. So gather around the computer with your daughters, nieces, sisters, and cousins for a fun and educational discussion on what it’s like to get your period for the first time. Mamas, this conversation is also for you. We will be discussing period health for adults as well. The Period Party will be divided into three conversations:
- AN INFORMATIVE CONVERSATION FOR YOUNG GIRLS
- A PERIOD KIT MAKING WORKSHOP
- A CONVERSATION FOR MOTHERS ON MENSTRUAL HEALTH
I will be joining The Period Party with multiple people in my household. Do I need to register separately for each member in my family?
No. You only need to register once per household. Invite as many people as you would like over to watch!
This event is virtual. Will I be able to catch a replay?
Yes. If you miss any parts of the event, you will be able to replay by signing back into your virtual link.
What age would you recommend for girls to join The Period Party?
I would recommend eight years old and up. If you have already started having the conversation before then, join in!
I don’t have children. I am pregnant. My child is a baby. Can I still join?
Absolutely. The Period Party will have a complete section dedicated to mothers. Some things we will discuss is your body returning to its cycle after childbirth and what is considered normal and abnormal for your cycle.
If you don’t have children, you can still join! Menstrual health is menstrual health.
I am watching this with children and their attention spans are shot! Will there be breaks?
Yes! There will be a 5-10 minute break between each conversation. Conversations will be 45 minutes long. Once we start our mama conversation, they are free to go play!
Can I watch this with my husband or son?
Absolutely! It is important for men to understand menstrual cycles too!
