The holidays may be the most hectic time of the year. The stores are packed, people are running around completely stressed, and we are forced to choose between paying a bill and buying presents for our children. For our family, we don’t necessarily partake in the extras of Christmas time. No big tree or toys she’s only going to play with once. Instead, I try to keep a responsible mind when it comes to the holiday season.
Adulting is fun, they said. Give it a try, they said.
I would be lying if I told you it were easy. It would be dishonest to tell you that I am not tempted to go ball out of control and spend all my little money on toys for my daughter, house decor that has been miraculously marked down to 50% for this special time of year. Oh no, I am tempted! Especially since this is our first year on our own. As I resigned my lease for my apartment, I looked around so proud of myself. I had done it. Exactly a year and a half after splitting from my relationship, I have been able to provide a home for my child. Last year, when I signed on the lease to this apartment, that was her gift – a home of our own. With all the things I had on my plate during the holiday season, moving was a BIG one. Having to worry about renter’s insurance? Not so much.
I researched a few different options when it came to renter’s insurance and it was such a pain. With everything I had going on, I did not have time to sit on the phone with a customer representative or fill out lengthy forms of questionnaires for a policy when all they really wanted was my email address to spam me.
Progressive provided an easy, straight to the point sign up and I received my quote in minutes. Ya’ll, the commercials don’t lie. It was just that simple. So my holiday to do list, shrunk down immediately when I no longer had to worry about that.
As we head into year two, I am planning to purchase a home next year. While I have signed up for home ownership courses, hired a credit company to help me boost my credit score, and started the long road to saving for a down payment, the last thing on my mind is renter’s insurance. Progressive allows for an easy transfer from renter’s insurance to home ownership insurance. Not to mention, with my daughter starting Kindergarten next year, we are also saving for a reliable car. Can you guess which insurance I plan on using? I’m sure you guessed right. Bundling all of my insurance options will save me money and the hassle of juggling multiple companies.
So mamas, I am here to tell you, adulting is not easy. It is even more stressful when you are faced with tough decisions during the holiday season. You should not have to choose between insurance and gift giving. To find out more about how Progressive can make your life easier by providing a quick renter’s or car insurance quote, check out their website here.
Tell us, how are you practicing adulting this holiday season?
