Why Moms Should Turn Their Hustles Into Brands

Becoming a mom has brought out the true hustler in me. If you’ve read the last article I wrote for Black Moms Blog, you know that I had to overcome several obstacles as a new mom. By the grace of God I was able to overcome them all, and it brought out a wave of strength I never knew existed inside of me. Going through tough times will bring out the best in you. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true. When your back is against the wall you are forced to fight or flight. I chose to fight, and I’m here to not only bring out the fighter/hustler in you, but also to teach you how to do it.

My struggles as a newly and unexpectedly single mom forced me to figure things out financially. No matter what’s going on in your life, the bills never stop, and you have no choice but to keep going. I learned how to use my adversity as an opportunity to take control of my situation. My adversity restored my entrepreneurial spirit, and kicked me into high gear for creating several streams of income. I was determined to not only stay afloat, but to also put myself and my family in the position to live our best lives. I’ve been creating and building businesses for over 10 years. I’ve owned several digital companies, and one brick and mortar women’s clothing boutique. Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart, but for those who have the drive and commitment, it can definitely change your life for the better.

A lot of moms get the entrepreneur bug while pregnant, and sometimes don’t see their ideas through to fruition because of several different reasons. It could be because of funding, lack of time, work, or many other things. I’m here to show you that you can conquer entrepreneurship as long as you are willing to do the work. While I was pregnant I quickly realized that in order to comfortably provide for my child I would need to get serious about becoming an entrepreneur. I could no longer create businesses just because I knew how to do it. I had to really plan it out and make it grow so that I could create a legacy for my child. I knew the steps like the back of my hand, I just had to dedicate the time it would take to make it happen. But first I needed to decide what I was most passionate about.

Over the years I realized that my passion is in helping others achieve their dreams. I took my knowledge of legalizing and structuring businesses, and launched I my business consulting company: The Pretty Grind. There, I teach women how to turn their hustles into brands. So many people know how to do hair, nails, graphics, and many other creative works, but they don’t know how to turn these hustles into businesses. They find themselves going in circles because they haven’t set goals or plans to make their businesses grow. I used my passion for creating businesses and helping people achieve their dreams to create my company. In turn, that passion is helping me live out my dreams as well. On March 24th 2018 I’m teaching a Business Bootcamp course on how to legalize businesses and turn hustles into brands. This course will teach you the fundamentals of legalizing a business, and you will leave with the tools needed to head towards success. We’ll be discussing several topics such as:

How to choose the best legal structure for your company
.
.
How to create and execute a social media strategy
.
.
How to budget and invest in your business
.
.
How to build your own vendor lists for hair, jewelry, make-up, and clothing
.
.

And most importantly: How to build business credit so you can maximize all opportunities to help fund your business

Most businesses fail because people are not taking the time to invest in knowledge. Most people think that money is all you need to launch a business, but in this quick moving world of social media, you need to find other ways to stay ahead of the competition. It all starts with learning and applying the tools provided in this course. If you’re in the NYC area this is a course you do not want to miss.
