If you’re anything like me, you have about 20 tabs open in your brain. Between being a full-time mommy, maintaining the household, hobbies and entrepreneurship, this mama sometimes forgets to practice self-care. It’s important that you regroup when you feel overly exhausted and overwhelmed. I have to check in with myself often and ask, “how can you properly take care of your family if you don’t take care of you first?” Here are my top four ways to get back on track.
Stop + breathe
15 minuets of complete silence and being aware of your body will make all the difference in your day.
Schedule “mommy time”
Yes, schedule downtime. Set an alarm, pin it on your calendar, do whatever you need to do, to remember.
You’d be surprised at how out of wack you are, because you’re dehydrated and don’t know it. Drink water, mama.
Journal + write down what you’re grateful for
You have so many things to be thankful for. Write them down to remember. It helps you to remember your “why’s”, what you’re working towards and who you do it for.
Now, your self-care needs may often change. What you needed last week may not be what you need this week. Tune into self and make mama a priority. Once you get yourself back on track, here are 20 self-care practices:
- Release stress
- Make a comfortable space for yourself
- Take a yoga class
- Get a full body massage
- Take a long shower
- Get a facial
- Pamper yourself with a mani/pedi
- Get creative
- Be still and quiet
- Soak in the fresh air
- Say NO!
